There's no way I'm going to solder anything on my iBook for making it 1.125 times as fast. I recently upgraded from 600 to 800 and barely noticed anything CPU-wise (going from the Rage to a Radeon did make a difference in 3D apps though), so why risk anything for 12.5%?

Stink different.

well, i read/write french, so i wrote the guy an email asking if he could send me (and/or host) a step-by-step guide w/ pics if possible. I also asked him if he feels the extra speed at all, and if he could run xbench for the heck of it. Apparently all that needs to be done is remove the bridge which is pointed out on the pic. I asked him how his iBook has been doing since- if all hs fine after 1 week i'm probably going to attempt it myself aswell

OK, I tried the OC tonight. I got a KP at the boot logo.
Removing the resistor above R821 which is R823 it think, gets me to 850 however.
Anyone else give it a shot?
I wonder if a voltage tweak would help out and get me stable at 900.
anyone know where the voltage registers are located and what the layout is?

For all interested,
iBook 800 resistor table
0= Resistor X=No Resistor
Multiplier.........8.....8.5...9....10
R825................0......X.....0....0
R821................0......0.....X....0
R817................0......0.....0....X
R813................0......0.....0....0
R809................X......X.....X....X
R825 is closest to the CPU and R809 is closest to the RAM slot.
I settled on 850. The HS got VERY hot at 900 and would not boot past the desktop (OS9) or the boot logo (OS X).
I resoldered a few times to remove improper soldering as a variable.
YMMV
Cheers
