Is it possible to connect a powermac to a powerbook ?? I mean can you use the powerbooks screen for the powermac?? iT MIGHT BE STiPID BUT i was thinking since im getting a 17" PB and then later a powermac with 970 (hopefully) by then i'll only be in debt for half my life , then i won't have money for a display. i want the 23" or 20", then i will have to save up money for a while so is it possible?? thanks

Unfortunately not, the 17" PB doesn't have a video-in port.

Would it be possible to use one of those Firewire-DV bridges to get video input through Firewire?

You *can* import analog/digital video signal into the 17" PB through that, however, it'll only import as digital video and save on your hard drive. After it's all saved you can then view it in Quicktime or whatnot, but it *will not* display anything in real-time, which is what he'd need.

If you don't mind the signal quality drop, You could get a TV transfer box and put it out to a TV (and you could get a TV tuner for the PowerBook, but the two boxes would cost most of the price of the display).

That said, a reasonable CRT display for a year or two while the bank account recovers may not be a bad idea.

Or you could run Apple Remote Desktop or Timbuktu. If they're linked by Ethernet (or even better, firewire) it'll be fast enough for most things. Just don't try to run anything that needs fast refreshes (like games).
