I watched the Special Music Event stream. Steve Jobs didn't mention the new 900Mhz iBook on stage, but he did bring up those Pro apps and PowerBooks.

Sorry to disappoint you guys including myself (both 300 and 800Mhz iBook owner), does the iBook being left out?

I'm sure he wasn't intentionally disregarding one of his new products, rather concentrating on what the presentation was really about: music.
5G 60GB video iPod
512MB iPod Shuffle
Westone UM1 Canalphones

I feel that it may be an unfair extrapolation to assume that Apple is hanging iBook users out to dry. After all, we DO have one of the best values in notebook computing.

To choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation.

OK: You're Steve Jobs. You're delivering what is quite possibly one of the most revolutionary announcements in computing history. Which do you think looks better to the common mass media:
1) A slight bump of your bargain laptop to a whopping 900mhz (remember, the press suffers from the Mhz Myth), or...
2) The world's sleekest and most feature packed laptop has begun shipping in volume to rave reviews.
It by no means reflects poorly on the iBook (or the iMac, Powermac, 12" Powerbook, or eMac which weren't mentioned either). It's just pulling out the big guns when the world's eyes are on you.
