Any of you new owners have some pictures for us?
I haven't seen too many of the new finish, so if you can post some I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

It is the same 12" screen. I figure the case is the same size as the previous models. Its nice and cool, also. Nice to have a laptop that doesn't cook me. I am glad that I choose the airport card vs. the 256mb ram, for right now. Hope I can upgrade it soon.

Wow! The text is different too!
Yea, those new are white. So you can't take the paint out of the covers from inside to have a transparent or colored iBook... I'm thinking to make mine transparent..
Cool but i love my 700 (20, 640, combo, airp.) ...

The all-white design first debuted on the low end of the last iBook revision (it has now been extended across all iBook models). The new font is just an update to match Apple's shift from Garamond to Myriad for all their text. (Same thing happened to the iMacs a few months ago, etc).

That one is exactly like mine.
Mine is a 700 mhz/cdrom, bought in March of this year. Mine was bought new in Mexico though. So I guess mine is the revised lower scale model.
In another post I commented on the white/finish and all, and I don't really see anything bad on it.. in fact I prefer this finish/color to the gray one.
Congrats on the 900mhz Ibook. Enjoy it!

are u absolutely sure about that?? so the polycarbonate itself now infused with white? or is it still some sort of colouring applied on either side..?? that would suck for the modders..

That's why I got all confused! I didn't get what the majority of the guys were talking about white/opaque, translucent, etc etc..
I noticed about the text difference when I saw one of the pictures showing the Ibooks and then I looked at mine.. I thought I had a damn hybrid haha.
regards all

Hey Thompson, your desktop picture is nice but I think it's rather ruined the desktop "clutter." Here is some unsolicited advice (can't help myself, sorry).
Hide the Dock
Remove the option of showing the HD on the desktop (it's really useless, you can open specific folders from the finder or by using keystrokes). Just go to Finder Preferences.
And put those files in your home folder, or at least move them to the corner!
Anyway, I envy you and your 900mhz iBook! Have fun.
PS Am I the only freak that doesn't like to see anything on his desktop?

The text was changed when the 800mhz model was introduced (FWIW my 800mhz 12" Combo has the same text). However I don't think the case is the cheap white that was used with the last-gen 700mhz models. It certainly wasn't if those ones at the Apples store last night were the new models (Which I would assume they were, although i didn't check.) It looks just like the 'silver' but not as gray, just a bit lighter.

Great pics Geoff, thanks.
There is a bit of a drought regarding pictures of the new ibook case, and as I am looking to buy one, it is nice to see more pics of it (I am unable to see one in the flesh due to crappy Apple displays in stores here in the UK).
Donny
P.S. A newbie request - got any more pics?

The iBook I have is supposedly like the previous edition's low end model (700, cdrom) so if you can find that one, it should be the exact same. You really have to see one of these in person to fully appreciate it. I actually like the white color better than the metal look of the powerbooks, so that's why I choose the iBook. The powerbook 12" they had on display was also pretty hot, while the ibook wasn't. These G3's aren't really bad processors, quite contrary to what some of my apple loving friends had me thinking.

Man, that sucks. Before apple killed off all the retailers, our Sears store in town used to have iMac DV's iBook Clamshells, and an old tower setup there. Circuit city used to have the 500 iBooks, G4 cubes, and iMacs. Now the closest mac retailer is CompUSA @ 1hr drive from here. For the two "apple" stores they put in colorado, they are ~20 miles close to each other, and both about 2 hours away from me! Just plain stupid, so I refuse to buy from them. CompUSA still has a good mac section. The dude who does the apple stuff there keeps the machines nice and clean.

no, the frame is the same width... it's just that the outer shell is no longer translucent so you don't get the "halo" effect around the screen... instead, where the halo was, there's solid white plastic so it only appears that the border to the screen is wider.

Okay. You guys have had your iBook 900s for a while. How have they weathered, especially given the new white finish? Are they still speedy? would you still recommend it over a 12" PB G4? Thanks!
