hey...I'm planning to pick up a 12.1" Pb, and I was thinking of getting into the ADC proggie to get the discount. I'm reading a lot of different things about it, though. My understanding of the situation was this:
Join up, order your stuff at the discount, and send them proof that you're a student (for the student program).
The X-factor is that I've been hearing that you also need to be enrolled in one of Apple's developer classes. Can anyone confirm or deny this? In other words, can a student like myself get this discount without going through one of apple's classes (which prolly cost more than the discount would be worth.)

I joined/faxed yesterday. Waiting on "approval" to actually place an order.
Can I use the ADC student discount at the local Apple Store, or do I have to do it online?

...online.
I signed up around six months ago, yet I never had to fax them anything. I only gave them my student ID number.

You've got it right man. If you're unsure, search for past post by my username and I've posted detailed instructions to follow before. NO special classes are needed whatsoever. As I've said, you can be enrolled part-time in a college taking underwater basking weaving and get the ADC Discount. If you have anymore Q's, just ask!

You have to be a member of one of the fee-based ADC programs to receive the hardware discount. However the student one is cheap, and it is worth the discount.
BTW I bought my PowerBook G4 12" with the discount and I saved 500 euros (about 500$). A 20% discount in fact.
I bought the combo 12" with these extras:
640 MB RAM
Airport Extreme Card
