Hi, I'm planning on getting a powerbook this summer before I go to college and was wondering if powerbooks have usb ports. It might sound like a dumb question but the reason I'm asking is because I'm planning on buyying a new Sony Digital Camera. Thanks.

I have yet to see any PC only cameras, although I know there are some out there. Theres an official list of supported cameras here. But thats not to say other cameras arent supported, that is just the official list.

That camera you mention is on the list - but it has a note. "Requires Mac OS X v10.2.2 to work in default mode. Will work with any version of Mac OS X when set to PTP mode." I don't know what PTP means - peer to peer? But as it says it will work with any version of OS X.

I've plugged in many of my firends cameras that they use on their PC's into my Mac, and iPhoto has not had a problem with a single one. In fact a roomate of mine got a new digital camera and took some pictures. I download them into iPhoto before the software installed on his PC - he was shocked.

My canon works great with my 17" powerbook. The great thing is that iphoto archives and downloads with out having to use import from photoshop...i.e. you can set up an image library on your hard drive to import into software with much greater ease and speed.
