I have this problem where by when I insert a CD or DVD for the first time into my Pismo (running OS9.2), the OS will crash and I need to reboot. I have OSX.2 on the same HD and while in Jag I never seem to get this problem only with OS9.

Has any one seen this before? Could it be the logic board?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe your Mac OS 9 'Driver CD/DVD Apple' extension is damaged...

So, do I just delete it and drag in a new one from where?

If you can not find an english extension or anyone can not send it to you, I can send you my extension, it is from my Pismo Mac OS 9.2.1 (spanish Mac OS).

Sure, the LG drives were bad (ironicaly, the Pismo samsung lcds were bad and the LG good ones), check what brand is yours, in Apple System Profile, maybe is a LG, bad thing, maybe a Matsushita/Panasonic, good result. My Pismo has a Matsushita DVD-ROM SR-8174.

I could not solve my internal drive problem so I went out and bought the lastest LaCie FW CD_RW drive (I needed a CD-RW drive anyway). The thing is that the drive when plugged into my Pismo when booting up in OS9 causes the OS to freeze (a bit like the problem with my internal drive) but when I boot into OSX, no problems with the LaCie drive. I can't get rid off OS9 just yet and I will have to live between the two worlds for a while longer. However, does this lastest (and familar problem) with my new Lacie CD_RW help provide insight into my original problem.

Any advice, most welcomed. Cheers

I would suggest returing the LaCie drive and looking at the URL in my signature about replacing the stock drive with a combo drive. It will make all the difference.

Hi, I have a external LaCie FireWire burner I use with my Pismo and Mac OS X (10.2.5). I will check what happens with Mac OS 9.2.
