Hi there, im new to these forums so i hope this is the right forum for my topic. I recently dropped my Powerbook laptop pretty badly and now the chassis is all bent out of shape. The screen lid wont close properly however it seems that only the base is bent and the screen seems fine. Ive taken it apart and the motherboard seems intact as does the memory and hdd however the cdrom seems in very bad condition and i doubt itll work. Although the notebook still powers up it is unusable as its all bent out of shape. So i was wondering if i could buy a seperate chassis and stick my working components into that and swap the screen over? i cant afford a brand new powerbook and i didnt have any insurance on it. Do you guys know any place that would sell a chassis? It was a 667mhz G4 powerbook. Thanks for any help.

Regards,

I think www.pbparts.com is a source aside from Apple...

One of my friends got himself into the same situation as you are in when he dropped his 800dvi. I managed to talk a local service center into selling me the parts, main case and bottom plate, without having them to install it, but still it ended up costing something around 3200sek (~£200), which btw was around half what the repair cost would be had he handed it in for repairs

Good luck

Also i think that the case is beyond economical repair. It is totally bent out of shap and i doubt itll be fixable. The webiste you gave me [euphras] was very expensive and i could pick up a brandnew powerbook for just 3 times the cost of the single case! thnaks for the link any ways. Anyone know any sites that would have 2nd havds cases as i dont think that ill be able to afford paying for a new one.
