It doesn't seem right that someone is making money off of this. I feel like bidding on it, not paying, and leaving negative feedback with comments that include the URL to the ADC hardware discount site.

That would probably be wrong though, wouldn't it?

Although he shouldn't be making money off of it, you'd be stooping just as low if you bid without paying. Just try to forget about it.

Forgive me if I'm dense but doesn't apple require that you prove you are in a computer science track before offering the ADC student dscount?
15" Macbook Pro 1.83 2 GB RAM
Blackbook 13.3 Powerhouse 2 GB RAM
MacMini Dual Core 2 GB RAM (Sadly running Windows Most of the time)
Numerouse Workstations running windows and Linux. Sorry don't have the specs, I don't pay much attention to them anymore. :)

no, they just take you at your word... you don't have to prove anything to get the student discount.

That's not true, although some people "get away" without having to "prove" anything.

Mostly they ask you to fax a copy of your student ID and the current class schedule.

A widely popular myth is that you have to be a computer science student. That's NOT true.

I wrote a detailed "Apple Buying" article once, that covers this and many other issues:
