If it's not the latest 1ghz with DDR memory, it will work. All iMac/iBook use the same SO-DIMM modules.

pat++

I have tried it out - however even though it is 512MB, when I put it into the iBook it only showed up as 256MB ??

Still works fine - but half the size?

For some reasons, some memory modules are not well recognized by some Mac... Maybe bad/cheap RAM quality...? Not sure if this can help, but try to reset the PRAM (press command-option-P-R during startup). If this does not work, boot into open firmware (command-option-O-F) then enter :

reset-nvram
reset-all

just in case...
