I'm having trouble getting TRCW and Medal of Honor to recognize the 17 Alubooks resolution. I've manipulated the config files to no avail. Any tips?

In some games, while you're in the game, such as in a level, if you hit the tidle key (to the left of the "1" key, it looks like this: "~" it'll bring down the console, and if you can access that, try typing this in:

/set r_customwidth 1440
/set r_customheight 900
/set r_mode -1
/vid_restart

You may need to restart the game afterwards, but give it a shot!

Do happen to know if this would work on Soldier of Fortune II AssassyN? I've found that my PB17 struggles with the graphics but would love to see the game in the PB17s native resolution.

^Thanks to sealobo

In my 17" PB review HERE I review SoF II on the 17" PB in quite a bit of detail closer to the bottom of the review, and in it I describe what hours of testing proved to be the optimal settings for the game on this particular machine.

Unfortunately, I found that running it in 1440 x 990 put too much stress on the system and wouldn't run smoothly; I credit this partially to the port, because SoF II is a wonderful game, but it was sloppy port to the Mac in terms of cleaning it up to run smoother...it clearly puts too much stress on the system than it should deem necessary. But give that a read for the optimal settings.

And BTW, those exact commands can also manipulate SoF II if you please.
