Does anyone know if it is possible - and worth it - to upgrade a Powerbook Titanium G4 500mhz to a 800Mhz or more? And where to find the upgrade?
Thanks

You know, I started to look into upgrading my Ti5-oh, but the hinges broke and the CD/DVD broke and the PCI slot broke so I said to hell with it and bought a 17". I still have the Ti, so I'll be watching this thread to see what pops up.

Last year around October or so, I upgraded from a Ti400 to the Ti800.
I like the higher res screen. Load times and what not is some what faster. But if you aren't doing anything intensive like me (Safari, Word, iTunes, iChat), then you probably won't know the difference.

I think the intention of the threadstarter was, if itīs technically possible to ubgrade a Ti (like a Powermac or a Pismo).
Sorry to say: Itīs impossible, the cpu is soldered onto the mainboard, even interchanging of the whole mainboard with a new (800, 1000 MHz-mainboard) is not doable, because of the changed ports of the different revisions.

The Pismo is upgradeable to 900mhz and I think the Ti chips are not far behind.

The processor on the Pismo is on a daughtercard while the processors in Powerbook G4s are soldered onto the motherboard. There is no practical means of upgrading.
