after learning about some issues with 10.2.5, I wanted to inquire aobut how the new update had been functioning on the PB17... like at the KP issues and such..

what do those who've installed it have to say? is it safe?

I never even installed 10.2.5 on my 17" PB due to all the horror stories, but I immediately installed the 10.2.6 Combo Updater b/c of the UT 2003 updates and I haven't noticed anything but smoother gaming performance. No negative side effects whatsoever, and I use multiple FireWire/USB devices also. Last time 10.2.5 bugs were being reported within the hour of its release; 10.2.6 has been out days now without any real issues being reported.

Just installed on my 17" with no problems so far, but it's only been a half hour.

No problem on 10.2.6 or 10.2.5 for that matter.

on my 12" 10.2.6 seems to have decreased the stability a bit... iTunes has crashed a couple times requiring a restart and once it just didn't wake from sleep, none of which it did in 10.2.5.

Funny -- I'm still running 10.2.3 on the PB (though may go up to .6 tomorrow) and yesterday for the first time it wouldn't wake from sleep. At all. Snoring away. Couldn't figure it out at all. And I sure hope I don't get a repeat.

I've heard that if you want to upgrade, you should do what AssassyN did and use the Combo update regardless if you're already at 10.2.5 Reasons why are escaping me at the moment, but if you've got a fast connection, why not?

AssassyN, how noticeable was the increase in gaming performance? My PB has a pretty hard time chewing through SoF II (like you said, its not the best port). Have you tried out SoF II after upgrading to 10.2.6? Any differences if so?
