i was wondering if anyone with a newer 700 iBook (16 MB video) has demo'd the new 900 mhz model.
does the better video chip w/ 32 MB and the faster cpu clock speed noticably improve "zip" in everyday use (web surfing, dvd watching, cd ripping, etc)?
also, i'm maxed out at 640 MB with my current 700 iBook...and i love it..and use it for recreation all the time...despite having bought a 1Ghz TiBook for work. using it right now in bed w/ airport.
Also, was thinking of upgrading to new 12" Al Book, but cons beat out the advantages of G4 and even smaller size. Specifically, heat, fan, and battery life all bad relative to iBook.
on the other hand my 700 iBook is nicer looking (imo) than the newer cheaped-out plastic-y iBooks.

Yeah, I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison as well, but I just purchased my iBook 700 (and love it!), so I'm in no big hurry to upgrade...

i think i will bring my 700 iBook into my local apple store and set it right next to a new model.
the problem is that usually the display models have 384 MB of RAM at the most.

I just went to the store today and played with the new iBooks. Did not notice any significant difference, but I did not get a chance to run games that require that 32 MB video card. I will say this though, that new interior plastic finish feels horrible!
Oh and the 12" PowerBook was hot as my iBook gets while the CPU is being maxed out. I can imagine it will get considerably hotter under intensive use.
I think I'll my 700mhz iBook for now
