Hi, it seems that I cannot boot from a Mac OS X cd anymore (and I tried both a retail OS X cd and my PB CD) and it won't work and yes I held down the 'C' key also. It seems that it has only occurred after I updated to 10.2.6, but I am not sure. Any ideas? TIA.

Does it start booting and then just hang? Immediately after the gray Apple logo pops up (assuming it does pop up), press and hold command-v until text starts spewing on the display. I have had DVD boot hang-ups with my 12" PB and this always works for me. I suspect that there's a timing problem in the firmware and the verbose boot slows down the process just enough to get past the problem.

Hey mindwaves I just had a similar problem.
I could get Drive 10 to boot to fix a drive. The problem was The 12" powerbooks come with 10.2.3 and that is the lowest version of OS X they can boot. It does seem werid that it won't boot from the cd that came with it. Are you sure it was the powerbooks cd that came with it you tried to boot off of. Just some thoughts

With some loud music + a friend to chat nearby you can get alot done. - but jezz, I'd avoid it if I had the choice---- If only real people came with Alpha Channels.......:)

Yeah, it goes to the Apple logo and hangs indefinitely, but your trick works. Thanks.
and REAL, yeah, it was my original PB dvd. I could of sworn that I booted off that dvd before....(must be 10.2.6)

What about the usual business of resetting nvram or PRAM?
