Does anyone know if a broken latch is covered by Apple? Obviously, the computer is not even 6 months old...
I pushed the button to open the latch, and when it popped open, the little hook that swings out from the screen side of the machine was hanging from the keyboard side. It had somehow come off. I am afraid this is one of those silly things that Apple doesn't cover (like the rubber feet falling off. I had quite a misadventure with that one. Don't get me started!).
Any thoughts?

Why don't you just try asking Apple about it?

thanks, but I tried that and they said that I would have to send it in for an "evalutation" to determine if it would be and if not, how much it would cost to fix. It's my only computer, so I am a little nervous about sending it away to be examined without an exact plan of action in place.

Well, you could take it to one of the Apple Stores in NYC, they have a Genius Bar that can look at it. But whatever you do, don't let them scratch it, as appearance related problems aren't covered under warranty.

From a UK perspective:
If it breaks, its covered.
That what a warranty is for. I'd like to see Apple pull the "lost feet aren't covered" stunt here in Europe.

There are a few states like that here. Places where you can't (legally) limit your warranty.
