I compared my iBook's keyboard to another iBook that my family uses at home, and I find that my keyboard looks a dirty-white

Any good stuff that you guys recommend to clean it? Thanks!

How exactly do you remove the keys from the iBook's keyboard? I've got some crumbs under mine which could do with being removed.

I'd like to know, too; how do you take off the key-caps?

Just pull at em. Be gentle, but keep pulling (from the bottom towards the top) and they will pop off.

NOOOOOO!!!!

DON'T PULL YOUR KEYS OFF - I'M BEGGING YOU!

On another "keyboard cleaning" thread some time back someone suggested pulling the keys off, and foolishly, I did.

The little clip under the keys is extremely fragile - so much so that even taking the key off can break it. I'm stuck now with a rocking space bar and a command key that doesn't sit properly.

So I'm begging you - DON'T TAKE YOUR KEYS OFF!

Heh.

I didn't remove any of my keys.
I used a damp cloth and wiped each and every key. Now it looks clean.

I take a big honking pipe cleaner and run it under the keys to get out most of the junk. It doesn't get it all, but it makes my iBook look a bit more clean.

Ummmmm I don't know how you popped off your keys but I find if you do it gently from the bottom ou should have no problems popping them off. My Bro popped his delete key off from the side and lost a peg from the arm that holds the key on, so Icareful with his method, he did it from the side.

Yeah, I may not like using Windex on an LCD screen, but this is getting a little too paranoid. I think murbot was just kidding with his post anyway, from the LCD cleaning thread with the Windex arguing.

I don't see why not to use Windex on your keyboard. If you're worried about the Windex getting on the screen and damaging it, just make sure you dry the keyboard off before closing the computer. Kind of a no-brainer (although PowerMacMan and I were talking about it on iChat and it took me a while to get it... I guess my brains are kinda fried since I just finished school for the summer).

Anyway, I don't really want to get involved in the Windex vs. Water vs. KlearScreen vs. Witch's Brew debate... I use pure water on my screen and it works for me, but I really have no idea how the other stuff works so I don't have an opinion on it.
