I have a PB 17”, and I use a Logitech USB mouse. As soon as I connect my Palm Tungsten T to the other USB-port, the mouse becomes jerky. I use the latest OSX version. I’am pretty new with Mac, having used PC for the last 20 years, and have no idea where to look. Anyone?

Hi & welcome to the MacNN boards!

Are you positive you're using OS 10.2."6"? Make sure your go to "System Preferences" and click on "Software Update" and see if you can update your OS any at all; if so, 10.2.6 would show up as an option. The reason I stress this is that 10.2."5", the next to latest OS X release, was known for USB-related problems, which is exactly what you're having.

If upgrading to 10.2.6 doesn't fix it, I'd recommend uninstalling both the Palm software and the USB-mouse drivers and then install the Palm first, restart, and install the USB mouse and see if that works.

I'm pretty perplexed at what could be wrong, because I had a Logitech MX500 USB mouse on my 17" PB ever since I've owned it, and just about a week ago I got a Palm Tungsten|C and I leave it's cradle connected 24/7 while my PB's on my desk at home in another USB port and I've never had any jerky mouse issues, or any other USB-releated issues with my USB keyboard, my USB digital camera, etc. Let us know if you've in fact got 10.2.6 and whether or not that solves it...best of luck!

Or you could sync the palm via blutooth, it's a little slower but works well. There are some other posts in the forums to help in setting up but it's fairly straightforward.

Hope that helps

Thank you both for a quick reply. I did in fact update to OS X 10.2.6 the first day it came out, and I have doublechecked that this is the version I have.

And yes. I do sync with Bluetooth, but it is conciderably slower then the USB sync.

I will now go ahead and reinstall both the mousedriver (the mouse that I have is a Logitech MX700, but I suppose it?s the same driver as for the MX500) and the Palm Desktop. Will report back.

Oslo, one more bit of information...my MX500 disc did *NOT* have OS X drivers on it, only OS 9, therefore I had to download them from www.logitech.com so be sure you do that as well to get the latest OS X drivers for your MX700.

Good luck man, and do report back when you try again.

AssassyN

Mine neither. I d/l'ed from Logitech. Just reinstalled, and I have the same problem. Anyway, I love my PB 17" so much that I'm reluctant to turn it in. I rather live with it, and use the touchpad when syncing.....
