Can anyone comment on using VPC6 with the 12" PB? I am especially interested in running Win2000.
For reference, i am basically satisfied with its performance on my 15"Ti gigabook (w/ 1GB RAM). I am not using it constantly or for very demanding apps.

With 640MB of Ram it's not too bad. It takes a while to load up and shutdown (even to and from saved mode). I'd say it's faster than VPC5 on my Dual 500 with 1.5gb of Ram once it's running.

What programs do you run? Is this XP or 2000?

I don't use it all that often, but Windows 2000 is surprisingly responsive with most applications.

It will probably run noticeably slower on the 12" powerbook, but I don't have any hard numbers to tell you how much. There are two things that VPC 6 loves: L3 cache and RAM. The 12" PowerBook's G4 has no L3 cache and cannot have 1GB of RAM. That said, if you're not running high performance apps and can deal with slightly sluggish performance, it should be fine. I'm almost certain that it won't be unbearably slow.

I don't have it installed on my 12" yet but on my 14"ibook 600 /640 via firewire drive it ran rather well I expect it will only be better on the new 12".. I just haven't had time to set it up...

I'm running 2K professional. I don't really use it much however. I use it to access our patient database which only works with IE6 for windows.
I also use it for the rare file that won't open on the Mac.

I have VPC 6 installed on my 12" PB. I tried it first with XP Pro and it was horribly slow. I gave up.
Then I tried it with Win98. It was better, but still too slow to use regularly.
I haven't used VPC in a while. I discovered Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection Client for the Mac and I use that to connect to my XP box. That way, the Win programs are actually running on the Wintel box and it's just displayed on the Mac. Much easier to use. But of course you have to actually have an XP machine around.
Oh, btw I have 640MB in the PB.

.. I discovered Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection Client for the Mac... [/B]
Please send me a link as to where to download this software. I tried Microsoft, but only came up with a PC version for older PCs to link to XPs. This software should solve a problem I'm having.
I do however, run Windows 98 on my PB 12" and it's okay, it's much faster on my 15" 1ghz though...probably due to that L3 cache etc.
Thanks in advance, if you can send me the link!

No problem at all. It's available directly from Microsoft, it's in the Mac section of their website.
Here's the direct link: http://www.microsoft.com/Mac/DOWNLOAD/MISC/RDC.asp
