All of a sudden my iBook 500 (2001) running OS 9.2.2 refused to go stay asleep sleep yesterday when closed and connected to the power adapter.

Symptoms:
1. Close lid, starts to go to sleep (heartbeat blinks once) but then wakes back up.
2. Choose sleep from menu but leave open -> sleep works
3. No sleep issues (as seen in #1) when running off of the battery.

Anyone have any ideas what the difference between the battery and the power adapter would be?

Thanks!

No USB devices. And I just tried to reset the power manager-- didn't make a difference.

Any chance you recently lifted the keyboard? You may not have reseated it correctly, causing the screen to hit a key when the lid is closed.

Ahh, Steve you are right! The keyboard had shifted and the screen was hitting the escape key. How silly of me not to notice.

Thank you!!!
