Two of the rubber feet came off of my 17" PowerBook. I called my local Apple Store and they did not have replacement feet for the 17." The sales rep suggested I call Apple Care. I called Apple Care and they said the feet are not covered by Apple Care and I would have too send in my PowerBook to get them replaced at a cost of $650.00. Has anyone else had the rubber feet come off their 17" PowerBook?

Youch! Mine haven't come off... But after hearing this, you can bet I'm going to be as careful as I can to make sure they don't!

They haven't come off my 17", but they had come off my Pismo. I got replacements on EBay for a couple of bucks and just superglued them on. If you need any just search on EBay for "powerbook feet". Hope this helps.

Sounds to me like you were unfortunate enough to get a moron tech support agent. I would try calling back on a different day and a different time so that you can be sure you talk to someone else. If they still tell you that it's $650 ask to talk to a manager, because that is just insane. When the feet fell off my Ti Apple sent me new ones for free. They didn't even charge me for shipping. Another suggestion is to call the Apple Store again and tell them what Apple Care told you. From what I've seen, the people at the Apple Store tend to have more pull than just a consumer. They may be able to help you out a bit, even if they don't have the feet themselves.

Apple sent me some TiBook feet (I've still got a few left) when my 'book came back from repair missing one.
There are some guys on eBay selling identical replacements (these are just rubber bumpers manufactured by 3M I think), and that would work. Bypass the weenie adhesive, and put a small drop of CA (cyanoacrylate) glue on there (available at any good hobby shop - this is not 'super' glue). Make SURE not to get it on the case, though, as it won't come off.

i got the whoel $650 thing for a teeny-weeny repair when i inquired about my latch/lid closure. I got the whole thing about their "tiered" repair rate thing. If the "defect" in question doesn't affect hardware performance or could cause future harm, it is considered "out of warranty..." kinda puts that whole AppleCare argument into the spotlight. $650 for rubber feet???? they must be famous feet, or gold coated or something.

One of the feet from my 12" came off a few days ago (I discovered it was missing and I don't know where it's got to). I had to remove the foot from the front battery as well since it wouldn't sit properly on a flat surface. Everything else on powerbooks is great, but Apple has had trouble with these feet for years.

One of my rubber feet came off the other day, and I was just using it in a kind of soft-covered table, when I lifted my 17Pb from the table, the rubber thing got sticked on the table, I didn't realized at first, but when I put it on top of my regular table, I noticed that it moved too freely, so I went to look for the thing, and luckily I found it, so I bit of super glue, and never will come off again.
They put these rubber things, that are attached to the computer from the inside, once the foot is removed, no way to put it back, something breaks and stays inside.
Just be careful, they are too easy to loose.

Apple should make the rubber feet on the PowerBooks like they are on the iBook, with a metal ring around it fastening it to the chassis so it can't fall out.

The rubber feet are really great - they glue the computer to the table, but if you slide around too much, the come off. My solution is to cover them with some good sticky tape. Then you can slide the computer around much more easily and never run the risk of tearing off the rubber feet. If you do it carefully with good quality tape, it will be invisible and you will have an easily positionable computer that never loses its feet.

They're not the same. The rubber feet in the 12 and 17" PowerBooks snap on. The feet from the TiBook are adhesive.
