I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same problem. I have a popping sound coming from my speakers while the iBook is running on the battery. I have a brand new iBook 900 12inch. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Is the popping sound immediately followed by a system sound of some sort? I've noticed it on occassion on my iBook 800. My personal theory is that it's related to the OS shutting down the sound system when it's not in use and when a sound comes thru that has to be played, the system 'pops' when it's juicing it up. I can't imagine it's good for the machine, but if that's not the cause, I don't know what is....

maybe i am completely wrong, but i think this has started recently. when i got my ibook i think it was 10.2.4, i think this problem has only started around .2.5+

or maybe not. but yes, i have this problem too. mine occurs when the speakers have not been using in a while, and then they pop before they turn on.

I have found a very long thread on the Apple web site relating to this topic. It looks like on OS issue that started with 10.2.5 and up. I hope Apple fixes it soon but there are some workarounds that are available. Refer to the Apple discussions board for more information. Thanks for you help.

Aha! It's not just me then. I always thought it was MacReporter - but it's good to know it's not :-)

Now if only Apple would fix it...
