Is xBench really accurate? Why the huge decrease in CPU?

I bought a new iBook 900 a few days ago and ran xBench on it. I was impressed; however, today I ran it again after having used it for a few days and the score went way, way down. There was a huge decrease in the CPU. It was getting 97 before, now it has dropped down to the 60 mark for CPU. Everything else, I guess, is close to the original time I ran xBench. Nothing was running in the background! I used a Mac OS X program called Process Viewer and CPU Monitor to check. Could someone explain this to me. My machine still feels as fast.
Thanks

From what I've noticed... xBench tends to give erratic results at best. I'd imagine that your first "97" score was a little off (since my 12" PowerBook got 71's and 1ghz TiBooks get about a 90).

As with any benchmarking, one should run it multiple times but best results.

two things:
1)try it a few times and see if you are still stuck in the 60's (too low for a 900Mhz G3).
2)MAKE SURE that in energy saver advanced options your machine is not set for reduced processor speed to extend battery life. that would explain the huge drop.

Thanks. It was the energy saver thing. Back up in the high 90s and a couple of times even 100s.
