I just sent my iBook back for a third attempt to fix a problem (fourth time I've sent it in for repair total). Each time they sent it back without repairing it, and once it came back with a bad display (that it didn't have when I sent it out).

This is my only computer so I'm getting a bit annoyed. If it comes back again without being fixed, I just want my money back. Will they refund it or just insist on this endless shipping cycle?

you need to yell at them, tell them it's your only computer and you are fed up with it. if you make a good case they will send you a new laptop (they should anyway since it has been "repaired" so many times) oerson I know did this, his iBook was having overheating problems, and they said there are not enough parts to fix it at the moment so he needs to wait for a few weeks, so after a few phone calls, yelling etc he got a a brand new laptop. well his was 2 months old at the time this was happening

Raise enough of a stink and you might be able to get your money back. Although you should try for a brand new machine first as you're more likely to get that before getting a refund...

Boy, 4 repairs would stink. Do they keep a record of how many times a machine has been repaired? I agree with the other posters that you should bring this to their attention and "gently demand" they replace your machine.

If your applecare account is linked to your machine registration, you should be able to bring up a case history on your www.apple.com/support/ site. (hint: click on an existing case number)

There is a history on Apple's support site (as vvedge said) - it's not applecare support though, this is all in the first year's warranty period.

I'm waiting for the repair info to show up on the site (right now it still says "dispatch sent" since I just sent it out Tuesday) before I call them since it doesn't list the problem yet, but I will complain. I have had very bad luck with their products in the last couple of years and would prefer a refund over a new iBook so I can shop around for other laptops to see what's available. The only thing keeping me with a mac right now is my iPod. I hope iTunes for windows is as good as the OS X version.
