Hi all.
I've been using OS 9 and OS X in the same partition in my iBook just like when it came from the shop.
My question is if there is any advantange in having both OS' in different partitions, because my iBook sometimes act strange when switching OS, or maybe it has nothing to do with partitioning....anyway I appreciate your feedback.
Peace.

OsX has lots of hidden files, so it needs a lot of disk space (e.g. for dvd authering - ok, not on an ibook - you need up to 12 Gb (!) of hidden space!)

so, if partitioning the hd, don't make it too small!

only advantage i know is, on a sperate pertition you can while booting select your system by pressing X for the MaxOsX part or - uuh, uhh? was it...- alt?, to get a selection for what system ypur prefer to boot

so, on an iBook i do recommend NOT to partition the hd.-

I dont think your problems are related to the partitioned HD. It shouldn't matter partitioned or not, since OS 9 and OS X are completely separate OSes.

I have a separate small partition for OS 9 on my iBook. This reduces the clutter of having the 9 and X folders intermixed. Also, the few times I boot into 9, I don't have to look at all the OS X stuff. It feels more tidy.
