hey all

my sister has an ibook she bought a few months ago. her airport connection is real strange. in certain locations in the house, she'll get no signal. i'll sit in the same exact spot with my powerbook, and have a perfect signal. other times, she can have a great signal, move a few inches, and completely lose her connection. this is all strange--and since this does not occur to my powerbook, i'm thinking that something is wrong with her ibook. (i get connections where she gets none.)

has anyone experienced anything like this? have any ideas about it? could the atenna be messed up?

thanks a lot

Have you tried swapping Airport cards? Maybe your sister's one is problematic.

I've experienced the EXACT same scenario on my sis' iBook. I swapped her card with mine, and it seems the card is faulty.

However, AppleCare in my place simply is a POS (they are simply dumb ). They claim they have no problems, and the iBook's already gone for a week.
I have a feeling they are going to point the finger at my Linksys Router.

Good luck with yours and do keep "us" updated. Thanks.

I have begun having exactly the same problem. It began about three weeks ago, and simply moving the iBook a little gets thing back. Also, it only happens after it's been on for an hour or more; never after waking from sleep.

I haven't begun to explore the applecare route, but I'm going to if this continues.

Try selecting another channel in the base station or router. It made some difference for me when I experienced a similar issue.

Also check if the screen angle has something to do (since the antenna its on the screen), i just found that my ibook has signal at certain screen angles.

I open my ibook and found that the antenna cable was twisted under the bottom cover, thus, when i open the screen to a certain degree, the signal was lost.

I just realign the cable and everything its ok, now..
