Long story short, I accidentally spilled beer about 6 months ago on my roommate's TiBook. It blew out the inverter board, and the screen was not readable. I took it to a shop in Boston and they replaced the board for some cost, forgot what it was.

My roommate just emailed me and said his keyboard and CD-ROM / DVD player were not working either, and needed to get them repaired as well. He sent me this email:

"I received my invoice recently from
TekServe, the shop where I got my computer repaired. I had to get the keyboard
and CD/DVD player replaced. They were $72 and $239 respectively. Labor and
shipping costs contributed another $20, making the total cost $331. I was
hoping that you could reimburse me for these repairs."

Do these repairs sound accurate? I know the problems existed, just wanted to know if the prices were about right, I do not want to be taken advantage of (ie paying for an upgrade to CD-RW or something). Thanks!

BTW, I know I am at fault for spilling beer on the PowerBook. No lectures please

Sounds about right.

In fact, I think you got off cheap on labor and the cost of the keyboard.

Keyboards are usually a hundred, the drive is priced right, if not a little lower than I expect, and the labor didn't include a bench fee.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

Tekserve is charging you CONSIDERABLY LESS than what Apple would be.

Keyboard: $199

DVD-Rom drive + installation: $399

You're getting off cheap, Bub.

Just hope it was a good beer you spilled on the system...sounds like it was an expen$ive one!
