I own a 700 MHz Ibook, recently i've begun to have problemns with the battery life. When it reaches 84% percent it suddenly drops to 0% and the computer goes to sleep!
Is anyone having similar problems? is there anyway to fix it?

Your battery is dying. Call Apple, they will send you a new one.

If it's still under warranty or AppleCare. If not, you'll have to buy one on your own for $100 or so.
If you have an Apple Store near you, you can take it in and confirm that it's the battery before shelling out money to test a theory.

mine started doing this on saturday.
if i have the battery menu icon on time it stays on calculating, if i chage it to percentage it goes down really slowly and the ibook goes to sleep at around 85%.
i called apple now and they said i have to take it in to their shop so they can test it out.

did not have college today, so today was the first day i could take it to the apple store.
spoke to a person at the genuis bar, showed him the fact that the battery indicator sits on calculating time left, showed him that the lights on the battery stay on four light, told him that it shuts off at around 85%, and that when plugged in after going to sleep at 85% the lights on the battery are on 1 light.
he asked if the ibook is still under warrenty. i told him it is, etc, etc. he took out a job form and told me that unfortunately he did not have any ibook batteries in stock, but he will order one for me and i just have to bring in the ibook and they will swop out the battery for free.
nice.
learnt something new today. when you 'about this mac' and click on the 10.2.6 it changes to the version number of osX and click again and it shows the ibook serial number. i did not know this.

Power cycling is very important with batteries....I am curious if you did this when you first got your ibook? Have others power cycled (fully charging, then draining the battery to 0 at least 4-5 times when first purchased) and had this issue?
