I am closed to buy a Powerbook..after 10 years of PC.
Now I use a Dell computer for my seminar powerpoint presentation .
I would like to know if i use powerpoint on my new Powermac and i insert some tv advertisement on my presentation and save it on an USB handydrive. Would i be able to read it and use it on any PC after?
The problem is i do my presentations in different countries where usually i can only find PC.
So iam a liitle be scare about thelack of comatibility between Mac and PC.

Thank you for advices

Most USB hard drives are interoperable between Macs and PCs (i.e. you don't have to reformat or anything), so you shouldn't have a problem using such a drive to shuttle Powerpoint files over.

Gerald, dont worry about lack of compatibility. Macs and PCs work fine together. I have my PowerBook and a Sony Vaio networked together over a wireless network and can open documents from the Mac on the PC and from the PC on the Mac, no problem at all. So you will easily be able to open you files saved to a USB handy drive on other computers. Better still, sign up for a .Mac account and you can copy your files to your iDisk on the web and then download them to any computer you want, anywhere iin the world! Now, how cool is that!

That's what I want to be able to do, but can't figure it out. Could you lead me to a link where it shows step by step how to set this up? Or if you could give me any insight that would be great! Thank you.

Check ou this link for filesharing (also has a page for PC filesharing too).

http://joelshoemaker.com/computer/ma...lesharing.html

Once setup I just made an alias of my PC connectioin and stored it on my Mac. Now whenever I want to connect to my PC I just run the Alias. You can also use the Finder to connect to your PC. In both cases you will need to find out the IP addreses for your machines. (Mine were 10.0.1.2 and 10.0.1.3 using Airport).

If you search the Apple forums under networking I think it is all pretty well documented.

Great link! I've been file sharing all along...I got that term mixed up with remote access. I'd like to be able to log into my PC from my Mac and use the PC programs. Any ideas anyone?

When I had my PC laptop the 256 MB Kangaroo pen drive worked great between my powerbook and PC laptop. I mostly transfered photos though.

What applications do you need to use. They might be avaliable for the Mac.

Or Timbuktu (from Netopia) if your version of Windows doesn't support RDP.
