Hi.. I am a switcher with a 2 month old 1 Ghz tibook. Originally, i bought 2x256mb ram for it. Having only experienced windows and linux, I didn't know how much OSX really ate up ram, and now I am thinking of replacing one of the 256mb sodimms with a 512mb sodimm because I have $90 paypal laying around. Are there any decent online stores that sell good sodimms and accept paypal? what brand should i get? I know crucial and kingston are good, but what about kingmax? I saw a kingmax pc133 512mb sodimm on ebay for $87, is kingmax crappy?

uhhh... that is generic memory, not name brand, and it is not even that cheap. I could buy top of the line crucial memory for $15 less with free shipping. i'm looking to spend my paypal on memory that will work and not be slower.

Yeah I'm looking at getting more RAm for my Tibook - bought it in April. Is it worth maxing it to 1GB RAM? its £160 at Apple for 512MB, and I don't know where else to go as of yet - I've had a look at places like macsales.com ramseeker and coast to coast memory, and prices for 512 vary from $95 to about $135; but crucially they don't ship to the UK. Anyone know a good cheap place that does? Is it worth paying a little more for quality? How much of a difference is there in quality between the types?.

Cheers

I got an extra 512 chip for my 15" SD from crucial.com. About £100 and works just fine. Nice prompt delivery. I bought from the UK store but also available in Europe and US.
Have bought memory from them for my last 3 laptops and never had a problem.,
