Hey everyone,

Rather than go again with another round of emails to HP support only to recieve "reinstall the driver" as a single line response, I figure I would ask and see if anyone else has the same problem and fixed it.

Problem - Printing from an HP Deskjet 940 from my PB 1ghz prints everything (no matter settings, adjustments) with virtually no top border, and just gives the space allotted to the top to the bottom, making the bottom border double.

This basically makes the printer useless for printing documents and things where centering is important....and plus, it's just plain annoying.

Also produced similar results when printing to the newer Deskjet 5550 (whichever one replaced the 940 for the same price point.)

Any suggestions?

So far I reinstalled the driver, and used all sorts of settings changes.

My guess is incorrect paper size settings...

Check out 'Page Setup' in your apps, check out the paper size/page attribute, are correct to your needs.

Also, check out the system wide preferences in 'Print Centre' and check the paper sizes are correct there.

Don't know where you are based, but the OS X (and most printer) default paper size preference is 'US letter', not the A4 we use over here...

Causes exactly the fault you describe... well worth a look anyway.

Hope you sort it,

Marc

Nope, the paper size I use is 10.5x11 (US Letter.)

Choosing A4 as the default does indeed fix the top paper margin, but unofortunately causes the problem to the bottom of the page (because A4 is .5 inches longer than US Letter.)

*sigh*
