I'm not sure when it started happening, or if it's a MacOS X issue or not, but at some point my PowerBook began having an EXTREMELY hard time reading CD-R/RW's burned on Windows. Also, I haven't been able to sucessfuly burn a single CD since that has been the case (I suspect I could burn an audio CD if I wanted, but I haven't tried). I've tried Toast and Disk Copy.
My TiBook has always had some problems reading CD's burned on Windows, but never this bad. I put a CD in today and it totally messed up up OS X - after attempting to read it for several minutes, it stopped and didn't mount anything, and I couldn't eject it. I tried to logout, which took several minutes (I had to force quit iTunes too), but it didn't want to log back in after. I had to force restart and hold down the mouse button to force eject the disc.
My old G3 could handle all sorts of CD's prefectly. What could be wrong with my PowerBook?
EDIT: I tried the CD again with iTunes closed and it worked fine! This must be some strange issue with iTunes. Anyone else encountered it?
