Hey all, I was wondering if it's bad to run the machine in clamshell mode. I know that previous users have reported some heat issues with there machine, and my machine still has a pretty bad heat problem. I feel it on my legs after a while. Is it cool if I run this in clamshell mode, or do you think it will make it run hotter? Any suggestions? Thanks

I run mine in clamshell mode all the time, my PB has become my new desktop. Most of the time I don't have any problem keeping the lid closed. I only open when I'm burniung a CD or DVD or playing a game. Typical usage is not going to cause the keyboard to heat up to the point where you're damaging anything. The Powerbook is SUPPOSED to get warm, the body is the Powerbook's heatsink.

I have one of the early production models, and it does get pretty hot...nothing has seemed to fix it. However, I use it in clamshell mode most of the time, just keep the lid open about an inch to improve ciculation and there shouldn't be any problem. Ever since 10.2.6, I've been having odd crashes going from clamshell to regular mode and back, but that's another issue.
