Hi,

I've notived that my screen takes a little more pressure to move than I feel comfortable with....all the talk about the hinges being delicate and apple refusing to replace them worries me. I saw the kit available at radtech, but frankly, I don't feel like spending 20 dollars for something I can probably do myself. Does anyone know of any sites or resources to tell me how to lubricate or loosen the hinge just a bit to make it close easier?

Thanks!

It will happen with time. I'd leave the screen exactly as it is, you'll only have to tighten it again in a couple of months if you play around with it now.

I bought the TiGlide kit from rad tech, I recommend spending the $20. I have replace hinges on 4-5 different TiBooks and have used it on each one. It comes with tiglide lubricant which is different than other types of lubricant I have tried. And for the extra tough hinges, there is a little gadget with a "C" type slot that will let you spring the hinge a little at a time. Most of the hinge repairs I have done have been from over excerting on opening the screen not dropping and breaking. You should be able to open the lid with one hand lifting at the latch with the base sitting flat and not have the base come of the surface. If you have to hold the bottom of the laptop down with one hand and open the lid with the other hand. The hinges are too tight...

Remember, this is just my opinion and in no respect to be taken as gospel!
