Hey,
I've noticed a red mark appear to the left of the right hinge. (eh )

I'm 99.9% sure that it wasn't caused by a red marker, or any other 'outside influence'. It is a known issue for the area to turn red? I couldn't find any previous posts about it.

I'm still under the 1 year warrenty, so would I be able to claim this cosmetic problem under it?

I've also recently noticed a deadpixel/scratch on my PB screen (I didn't notice it untill I changed desktop wallpapers). I honestly don't know if the PB shipped like this, or I caused the damage. Could I claim this under the warrenty as well?

Thanks for any help in advance, and I apologize for my incompentance when it comes to warrenties

Is it chipped paint?

I'm thinking that the paint may be flaking away revealing what is underneath.

Apple may or may not replace that if it's flaked paint. Chipped paint is another matter.

At any rate, doesn't sound like a big deal. Take some 409 (kitchen cleaner) and try to wipe it off.

If it doesn't wipe off and you don't like it then head down to a model shop (as in toy car models) with the Powerbook and ask them to mix up a batch of matching paint and dab it on over that spot. It'll take care of it.

Or, you can try calling Apple.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.

Its bizare, I doesn't look like chipped paint. It looks like a redish-pinkish tint that is coming through (or on top) of the surface. It almost looks as if the original sufface has been worn down.

I can live with it being there, but I'd rather it wasn't
