Hi there,

Reading the ata-6 topic I come to the following questions:

1.- Could anyone inform if the Hitachi HD 7K60 is compatible with a PISMO?

2.- If the answer is yes, would the U-DMA interface/66 ATA-4 (As specified on the apple developer notes for a PISMO) be a bottleneck for the 7K60 maximal interface transfer rate?

The Datasheet of the 7K60 http://www.hgst.com/tech/techlib.nsf...256CF3007D1706)

7K60 maximal interface transfer rate of 100MB/sec Ultra DMA mode-5

Regards

I see no reason why it wouldn't be compatible, but I'm not sure about the other question. My hunch is that you wouldn't get near that max transfer rate in real world use, so you probably wouldn't have a problem.

No notebook drive in existence is fast enough to saturate an ATA/66 bus (I don't even think there are any desktop drives that can).

There's no reason it shouldn't work.
