Just had this from the Apple Store eNews email:
Enhance your PowerBook's performance with optional RAM upgrades: up to 1.25GB on the 12-inch and up to 2GB on the 17-inch models. I checked the Apple Store and the 12" and 17" PB memory configs still have a max of 640Mb and 1Gb. So what's happening? has this leaked out from new PB specs, or are the 1Gb ram modules finally available, or is it a ****-up?

The 1GB modules for the 12" have been available for a couple of weeks now. Damn expensive though, the best price I could find was $695. I'll be waiting for a while.

Ok a couple of people are asking for a link and from reading the first post the poster DID NOT mention that there was a link.
The poster said it was from an email from the apple store.
Oh by the way anybody can sign up for an Apple Store enews, that way when apple releases something new at the Apple Store they'll know about it.
Sorry if i dont have anything to contribute to this thread but it just burns me up when people continue to ask for a link, when if your using safari in the top right corner there a Google search right there, oh and if your not using safari is typing google.com in the address bar of your favorite browser so hard.

http://www.dsp-memory.de/1gb/
Their phone number is +49 461 1461 66 00 and they do speak English.

No, that's for the 12", not the 17". Read the caption. Anyway, I fixed the link, its going straight to the shop now where you can order them.
