I just purchased a samsung syncmaster 192n analog LCD monitor for my ibook (700MHz). I am unable to get the 1280 x 1024 resolution. Is my ibook even capable of getting that resolution?

Thanks. Does the switchresX do the trick? Or is it necessary to do the other hacks?

Thanks to all the great threads on the spanning hack. It works great! I just installed it on my 700MHz ibook with 16vram using the installations instructions from this link:

http://www.rutemoeller.com/mp/ibook/ibook_e.html

One question remains:

Do I still need to set my vram to 8 instead of 16???

Well, I don't think that's very easy. You should edit the Quartz Extreme configuration property list and change the minimum video RAM requirment to 8 MB. Keynote flaked out on me if I didn't do that. I'm not sure if there would be other problems.

How do I go about doing that?
