Hey folks.
Anyone ever notice this problem? I've got a Pismo Powerbook that doesn't get used that much. The factory battery stopped holding a charge, which I attributed to age. Got a new battery that worked, but would only ever be charged to around 86% of capacity. A couple of months in, this one stopped holding a charge too. Took the machine to the Apple store genius bar, they pop in a battery, and it charges right up. What gives? I'm running 10.2.6 with 320 megs of RAM. Thanks for any shared experiences or pointers.

I just picked up a Pismo a week ago with the original factory battery. There's no way of knowing how much use the machine had with its previous owner, but mine holds 3+ hours of charge.
The Menu Bar indicator always shoots to 100% when the AC cord is plugged in, too. I'm happily surprised with my battery life so far.
Running 10.2.6 with 1 GB of RAM.

I have a Pismo, bought it new, and have used it constantly ever since (2000). I have the same trouble, and I don't know the answer. But here's some info. I too saw the battery level dropping and assumed it was age. I tried "draining it" and letting it run to nothing, with no apps open so I wouldn't lose anything. I then got a new battery. Not sure of the manufacturer. And the story gets wierder. Because the little green indicator lights ON the battery say they are fully charged, but the red indicator in the system also says about 80% full. And then when I SWAPPED the batteries (have no idea what possessed me), I saw the indicator "lightning bolt" come on, whereas it wasn't on before.
I like my Pismo. It runs great, is a nice model, looks good, has a great monitor, and all the ports I could want and more. But I no longer use it on batteries only, and the DVD-ROM drive died, and 6GB HD isn't doing it anymore, and my USB burner only runs at 4X, and since it's still worth something (live in Switzerland, so might get $900 for it), now might be the time to start looking for a 15" G$ 667MHz. Sure would like the batteries to work, though.

I have a couple of battaries in my Pismo so I get about 5 hours at the moment.
One of them only lasts about 1 & 1/2 hours, does anyone know where in the UK I can get new Pismo battaries?
