I don't know about Toshiba, but Hitachi already released a 60 gig 7200 rpm model.

Yeah, but do you know anyplace that stocks it? I've been looking for the drive but have not come across any online stores that sells it yet.

Well, don't complain if your machine runs extra hot and your battery life drops significantly.
The reason laptop drives run slower than their powered 3.5" cousins is because of heat and battery issues. I'd probably suggest one of the 60 GB or 80 GB 4200 models with the 8 MB cache.

I totally agree.
If I want a faster drive it's going to be on a part-time add-on external basis not INSIDE of my Powerbook where it will not only eat battery life but will also make it run hotter.

Thirded.
i just installed the new Hitachi/IBM 4200rpm 8meg cache 80gb drive. Very, very nice drive, great power specs and more room. For external work where speed is a factor I use FW enclosures, or I use a desktop.
