How do I disable the f8 keys ilum. feat?

I am trying to run virtual PC.....I have to hit f8 to accept the software but the illumination key kicks in instead. I know.....virtual PC on a 17"PB, but I have no choice A Cad isnt ported to OS 10 yet.
