Since I am one of the many disappointed with no Rev. B of the 12", I guess i will have to "make due" with the current model

anyhow, i have been looking around, and was waiting for this day of WWDC to find out if i needed to wait any more.

without accusing anyone of anything, I want to know if it is possible to buy a sealed 12" PB (combo) for $1400.

i know all too well of the frauds on eBay, but at least in theory, i could buy this machine in person, from a local guy. If true, am I buying a legitimate unit...i mean can Apple not honor a the standard warranty if it is purchased..."gray market".

or worse...will a serial # registration tell them it's stolen.

i know if it sounds too good, etc....but is it possible that a wholesaler or even a college kid could make money at that price point, if it is legit?

$200 bucks buys an AE card and a 512MB memory stick.

Serial number is printed on the side of the box... call Apple and make sure it's not a stolen unit or one that has already been registered. Then, when you go to buy it, open it in front of the guy who is selling it and ensure the serial number matches the box.

I would ask the guy where he got it from and if he has a receipt. You may not be able to get warranty service without a receipt, although I've only had to produce a receipt when I go to a local Apple reseller for repair.

It is possible he obtained the PowerBook using an ADC discount or something, but I would just ask him where it came from.
