With the impending release of Panther, it's time to max out the memory on my iBook 700. I've read on the PNY site that their PC133 SODIMMs are no longer backwards compatible with PC100 slots. Has anybody had any problems with PNY memory? Any recommendations for memory brands? Also, has anybody seen any good deals on 512 MB SODIMMs? Thanks.

I got the cheapest memory from www.pricewatch.com - anything will work, just make sure there's a return policy in case you get a lemon.

I had a good experience with 4allmemory.com

I particularly like that, on their web site, you choose exactly what model of computer you have and they show what memory will work with it. That's how i got a 512MB module for my revA iBook - and Apple doesn't even say that model works with 512MB modules!

I don't know why, but after reading this thread I decided it was time to upgrade to 512mb ram. Newegg.com has a 512 chip for $90 with free shipping (and it's not generic ram, either)...

Crucial is well known for the quality of their memory and their seriousness. Their web site is very nice too, and let you choose the model of your computer so that you can be sure you get the right memory. But I think they are not the cheapest out there... Up to you...
