I am trying to repair permissions on my Powerbook, but while it it scanning, after each item it says operation not permitted. Any help?

Try creating a new user and run 'repair permissions' again. Any luck? An excellent tool for repairing permissions and much more is 'Cocktail' (see versiontracker). Best of luck.
