A while ago I dropped my pbG4 15inch on its audio out port, and it caused a short activated by movement somewhere around it. When ever I move my powerbook sound cuts out. I had to get an iMic to use my powerbook for mp3's.

I would like to know if there is any way to permanently turn off my sound card when my powerbook starts up.

Thanks in advance.

As the sound card is part of the motherboard, disabling it would be pretty drastic and require re-routing of power. You would have to be very handy with a soldering iron and have access to schematics of the board to work out replacement components to use. Basically you cant do it.
