Lemme know if any of you have this problem..

I've got Gracie the 500 Mhz iBook.

I've got 10.2.6, 384 MB Ram..

For some reason, when I'm using my machine, and I press the VOLUME keys, or even the BRIGHTNESS keys, the entire computer freezes up for a few seconds.

If i'm listening to music, the music will actually STOP while my computer thinks, "huuuuh? Volume UP? ooooooh, okay!"

I reboot, it takes care of the problem for a few hours, and then goes back to retardom.

Already tried reinstalling the OS.

Any ideas?

have u had this problem w/ any previous version of osx?

to me, 10.2.x, (especially 10.2.6) is the most unstable osx apple has released...

i've reinstalled 3 times ijn lesss than a year, which is unusual for me...

installing more RAM (memory) al;ways helps as well...

I have the same problem. Ever since 10.2.6, molassas city. Heaven forbid you need to open iPhoto. I figured since the 500Mhz is not Quartz Extreme compatible, all the pretty colors are bogging it down. It flys in OS9 (RIP).

I seriously doubt Panther will resolve this issue. It will probably get worse.

Perhaps that 12"PB is a good option. :-)

I have a 500 ibook, too. And I've kept OS 10.2.3 on my machine because I've read in various forums about people having problems with 10.2.6.

I would do a clean install of an earlier version, .3, for instance.

Panther may actually run faster on all machines. We'll have to wait and see.

My brand new 900MHz iBook did the same (10.2.6) when I had 128 megs RAM in there. Yesterday I maxed out the RAM and now the volume/brightness things pop up instantly

I wonder if iPhoto load times are related to how many pictures you have in your library? It seems that as I add pictures it takes longer for iPhoto to load. Either I do not have enough available RAM (too many applications opened) or all of those little thumb sized pictures add up!
