Hi,
I own 2 Ibooks, one 500 MHz which quality is good and a 800 MHz Combo (bought in December).
The 800 MHz has had 3 times the same error and each time Apple put a new logicboard in it!!
About every 6-10 weeks my IBook screen is going to show unregular lines and is flickering. Short after that the Screen freezes and after a reboot about 20 minutes later it freezes and flickers again. Arround 2 hours later it just doesn't reboot.
Such an error can happen 1 time, perhaps 2 times but in my case it was send to apple 3 times with the same error AND Apple did the SAME thing!!
my Apple Dealer has told me that when it goes down the next time, I will get a new one and like that I think in 4 weeks ... ;-)))
has anyone the same errors?
Mark

Yep. And after the third time it happened I got a new one as well; and to top it off, it was a the 900mhz model to boot.

My iBook 700 with Applecare socks bigtime.
I had the same issue 6 weeks ago. It crashed again the second day after the first repair. It then took me 3 weeks to convince Applecare to pick it up again, because I had to go thru firmware resetting, latest patches, pram resetting and all that BS.
Now I am waiting almost one week after my 6th? phonecall with Applecare to get it picked up. Still waiting.
You can see some lovely "repaired" fotos here. Caution they are somewhat big. The second is a nice one.
I am now 7 weeks without a working iBook and no confirmed second repair date in sight. I am getting utterly pissed.

i had the exact same issue with my 7oomhz model and after it was sent in for the 3rd time, i got a new one from them. BUT, after about a month and a half of use my REPLACEMENT 800mhz iBook crashed just the same way. So i called apple and had them refund my money (at the current retail price).
Funny thing was everytime i talked to them they acted as if theyd never heard of such an issue...

Fingers crossed.
Dhl picked it up monday afternoon, got it back this wednesday morning. Funny, less than 2 days actually repairing, more than 3 weeks waited to get it picked up...
@Brapper: which computer do you use right now?

Actually i made a deal with my dad and bought his Tibook 667mhz off him and he used the money from Apple to buy a 17inch powerbook....so it worked out quite well for us in the end.

My 800mhz iBook had same symptoms as others. It was picked up at my office on noon Monday and back on my desk at 10:00 am this morning (Wednesday)...with a new logic board.

apparently the problem is that apple is not mounting the logic boards properly on some iBooks...from what ive gathered, this causes them to come somewhat loose overtime (usually ~ 6 weeks). This explains why my system, and I'm sure your's too, is normally fine while sitting on a steady surface, however once it is moved it crashes.

Well.. could be, at the end I could crash my iBook easily by starting lifting the front left corner, but only after let's say 5 minutes after "on".
The last 2 weeks I did not move the iBook at all, it still crashed within minutes...

That would make quite a bit of sense given that mine lives in my backpack when I'm not using it.
