hi - my 400 TiBook 15" has an annoying problem. it won't wake from sleep and sometimes takes 5 or 10 presses of the power switch to switch it on. After sleep i can feel and hear the drive still spinning.
if i reset it with the snmall button under the back flap - the drive spins down and the machine will usually start up
i've tried new ram - booting fram a CD and a complete low level format and re-install.
problem is the same in both sys 9 and x.
i think it may be hardware - the logic board or PMU board.
Has anyone had this problem - i don't want to start buying boards if it isn't hardware?
also - any good sources of these bits?
im in NEW ZEALAND.

I had this problem with my old Tibook 400 as well. And I found many people on the Apple Discussion forums with the same problem.

You're right--it's a hardware issue. More specifically, it is a logic board problem. I got mine replaced, luckily I was still under warranty, and the problem disappeared. You might read some stuff about resetting your PMU to fix this problem. Ignore that, it doesn't work for anyone.

Looks like you'll have to get your 'book into the shop, man.

There are a large number of threads on the Apple Powerbook Discussion Forum detailing just this problem.

It is a hardware problem. It may be related to an ungrounded connection b/w your case and the mobo.

I suggest this link as a starting point. Some "fortunate" users found the source of the problem relatively easily and were able to fix it themselves. Not everyone is so lucky though. If you are fortunate enough to still have your Applecare warranty you may be in luck otherwise a blind (and pricey) mobo replacement may fix your problem.
