I have a slight problem with my PBG4 500. Bust the power-supply a bit ago and replaced the plug on the end of the switched mode power supply with another plug. Unfortunately this didn't have a ferrite ring and ended up braking something inside my powerbook after 5 seconds. Having got another plug (with a ferrite this time!). Everything works again, apart form the battery charging. Have swapped out the battery with a friends and the battery is fine (ie it charges and provides power to my powerbook when charged).

On opening up the case and looking at the board where the power comes into the powerbook there is a transistor (or diode) that looks a pit chared, and I don't really have the confidence to solder a new one on.

Have been looking around the web and saw there there are various sites with spare parts for the Rev A (400/500) powerbooks. They have "DC in boards" and "PMU boards" for approx $80. I am assuming PMU stands for Power Management Unit.

Does anyone know which I should buy?

Does anyone know where I could get the Apple Service PDF for this model so I can strip the whole logic board?

Can any one help what so ever?
