Solved the problem below by using the retail version of Jaguar. Worked without a hitch. Must have been something wrong with the included cd....strange.

I'm about to sell my tibook today and am unable to install a new system on it. I install and then when I reboot I just get the dark apple and it never goes beyond that. I've reset the power manager but didn't help.

I rebooted in 9 and reformatted the disk too and tried installing x again. No success.

I've never ever had a single problem with this powerbook! Typical!

Pls - any quick suggestions???

Not sure how quick this is, but if you can't fix it, maybe drive to a apple store and have genius look at it. If it can be fixed they usually do it that day, and you can have your machine by the end of the day. So you could still see your machine but later in the afternoon. I am assuming you already tried reinstalling, and all that good stuff.

I've tried everything I can think of. It's just weird that nothing seems to work. Never had a problem like this on any mac I've had. It installs without a problem and then doesn't boot properly. It has been the best powerbook I've had without so much as a hickup and now this.

Won't have time to go to the store before I'm supposed meet the guy who is buying it. Stressful.

I just used the retail version of jaguar and it worked fine. There must have been something wrong with the original CD that came with the powerbook! SO frustrating but at least nothing is wrong with the powerbook....

thanks
